Our 3-day Kilimanjaro Climb is designed for those looking for a shorter expedition on the mountain. This package is ideal for individuals who are not aiming to reach the summit, those with time constraints, or those on a tighter budget who prefer a shorter trek up Kilimanjaro. The journey begins like any other climb but concludes at the second hut after reaching Horombo hut at 3720 meters. Here, you will spend the night before descending back to the gate the following day. Meanwhile, other climbers will proceed to the base camp and eventually head to the summit.

Following your morning meal and a briefing before the trek, a drive of about one hour from Moshi will take you to the Marangu Gate (1,860 m), where your Kilimanjaro journey commences. Upon completing the registration process with the park authorities, you will begin the climb through a dense montane rainforest. The path leading to Mandara Hut (2,700 m) involves a gradual incline, surrounded by majestic eucalyptus trees, diverse bird species, and the occasional sighting of black-and-white Colobus monkeys. Upon reaching Mandara Hut, you can opt for a brief hike to the Maundi Crater, which provides breathtaking views of Northern Tanzania and possibly even Kenya, weather permitting. Altitude: 1,860m / 6,100ft to 2,700m / 8,875ft. Distance Covered: 8 km / 5 miles. Time Spent Hiking: 3–4 hours. Habitat: Montane Forest.
Following an early breakfast, the journey continues from Mandara Hut (2,700 m) to Horombo Hut (3,720 m). This leg of the hike transitions from the dense rainforest to the heathland zone, characterized by a drier and more expansive landscape. Throughout the trail, you'll be greeted by breathtaking vistas of Mawenzi Peak and Kibo Peak, two of Kilimanjaro’s volcanic summits. As you ascend higher, the air thins out, necessitating a steady pace and a focus on acclimatization. The path offers a mostly gradual incline, though there are some steeper stretches. Along the route, you'll encounter impressive lobelias and groundsels, distinctive flora that thrive at high elevations on Kilimanjaro. Upon reaching Horombo Hut, take a well-earned break. This location serves as a midpoint for acclimatization, positioned at a higher altitude than Mandara but lower than Kibo. Spend the night at Horombo, relishing the spectacular views that encompass the surrounding terrain and distant peaks.
Following a satisfying breakfast at Horombo Camp, you will kick off your downward journey by retracing your route through the moorlands towards Mandara and eventually Marangu Gate. The winding path will guide you through a verdant forest, creating a peaceful setting for you to ponder the remarkable adventure you have just undertaken. The thick foliage and refreshing shade will offer a pleasant change from the higher elevations you traversed earlier. As you progress along the trail, you will eventually arrive at the National Park Gates, signifying the conclusion of your hike. The descent typically lasts around 5-6 hours, providing ample time to admire the shifting scenery and marvel at the diverse wildlife in the lower areas of the mountain. Once you reach the National Park Gates, take a moment to acknowledge your accomplishment before heading back to your accommodation in Moshi. This last day offers a leisurely stroll filled with reflection, giving you the chance to reminisce about the unforgettable moments of the ascent.
